I need a doctor to answer this question/?

6 yrs ago my pap died of wat was ruled to be an aneurysm. There was no cause, no autopsy. There was little attempt 2 save him. I want answers. The hospital in my areas run like a 3 ring circus. Theres only 1 Dr in the entire ER. Its always been that way. He was 61 yrs old when he died. He excercized daily & ate fruit & vegetables & watched his cholesteral. He dieted right & 4 the most part he was a healthy man. Hed just been 2 the Dr not 2 long b4 he died & didnt show a single early symptom IN FACT he appeared 2 b perfectly ok! How? Hows he drop dead @ a golf course? Better question: if we were rich would he b alive? If he were a celebrity would he b alive? Would they've done more 2 save his life had he been? y wasnt he given an injection of some kind 2 get his blood circulating rite? y wasnt an AED used? y wasnt he given some kind of cillon? Anything? All that was done 2 him was CPR & he was on machines for under 5 min. y's my pap dead & should he evn b or could he b alive 2day??

I'm not a doctor but maybe I can help with a few explanations. An aneurysm is an area of dilatation or widening in a blood vessel usually an artery. This can at times dissect or open causing a person to bleed into the area directly next to the aneurysm. CPR will not save a person if that happens as they can bleed out of an artery within 2 to 3 minutes. An AED won't help as it only helps to 'defib' when a person has an irregular heart rhythm. Was everything that could be done, done that is between the doctors that were there and GOD. Should he be alive today, again that is in the hands of GOD. Clearly your pap was a man that you dearly loved and miss. I can hear the pain and anguish in your words. But better that he go quickly doing something like golfing than to languish on life support for months or even years. Let him live on in your memories and in your heart. Keep him alive in your family traditions and you'll soon begin to heal. I know, I lost my mother to brain cancer 3 years ago and am just now able to tell anyone about her. aneurysm can indeed cause sudden death without any warning signs or symptoms in an otherwise healthy individual. aed is only used for heart problems, not for aneurysms and would not have saved him. the family could have requested an autopsy at the time of death

I'm not a Doctor, but you should question if it were PVD (Peripheral vascular Disease) that killed yoyr dad. The time frame, and the unexpectednes sound as if it may have been. Blood clots in the lower extremities (Legs) can suddenly break free and travelmto either the lungs or brain, causing a very quick demise...Again, I'm not a Dr. but I do suffer from vascular disease and fortunately had some large clots removed from my rt. lung in emergency surgery. If I hadn't had severe pain prior to to operation, I might also have succumbed to this silent killer...Really sorry to hear of your loss, your dad was a young man, stay strong.

First of all, very sorry for your loss. It must be difficult to lose your father at such a young age. From the info you provided it sounds like your father died from a sudden event. How did the doctor's know it was an aneurysm without an autopsy?If it was an aneurysm, where was it? Heart? Abdomen? Brain?
An aneurysm is a malformation of an artery or vein which causes the walls to bulge and weaken, leaving them prone to rupture and bleed. Some are congenital and hereditary (you have since birth and are passed on through families) others develop from cholesterol deposits in the walls of the arteries.
Many times you never know and never have any problems. Hard to say what he had without more specific information. Whatever it was that took his life suddenly,and unexpectedly,was probably massive, his chances of survival were likely slim to begin with considering he collapsed on a golf course. The amount of down time is crucial.

The resuscitation effort depends on many factors including the patient's physical exam and findings, a defibrillatory shock is only indicated for certain rhythms on the cardiac monitor. I suspect your father had neurological signs of brain death and prolonged efforts were hopeless.

Sounds like an unfortunate situation, money and or celebrity probably would not have made a difference---It was his time.
