How can I get a free blood pressure monitor?

I just recently found out I have high bp and I can not afford to get a bp monitor, I also haven't went to the dr. yet due to no insurance. I work at a nursing home and that is where I had it checked 2 days in a row and it was high. I need a monitor so I can check it at home on my days off.

If there is a free clinic in your town, I suggest going there for an evaluation. Not only can they diagnose it for the prescription, but they can also put you in touch with a supplier who will cover it. Good luck!

I think that's great advice! Not only does that take care of her financial dilemma with the BP monitor, but it also directs her to a place where she can get looked at for free.

Just so you know a doctor appt is $80 where I live and that's for just walking in before any tests. So it is not as EASY as you may think to see one everytime. As for the cost of the monitor being $30. I want to know where that is??? Please... Report It

You can continue to have it checked at work. Other places that would do it for you is the doctors office (in the lab most likely), paramedics, and a lot of pharmacies have a machine set up that you can check it.

Make an appointment with your doctor, even you don't have insurance. It doesn't cost a lot for just an office visit. Discuss it with him.

Blood pressure monitors actually aren't that expensive. You can get them for less than $30. You may want to try to save up for one, if you do have high blood pressure it will pay for itself very quickly. I also suggest seeing your physician. They'll be able to get you on medicine or a diet to help with your blood pressure. They may be able to get you a blood pressure monitor too. Some hospitals will even write off your bills if you make less than a certain amount of money each year.
