Does getting a blood transfusion change a person's personality & temperment?

After my friend got a blood transfusion about 3 yrs ago, it seems like his personality has changed. He seems like a completely different person.

Does it change someone's personality and temperment to the blood donater's personality? Please help me!

My friend is 43 by the way, so he is in adulthood, not adolencence.

Hmmm, have to hope you don't get blood donated by a female, or someone with a different sexual orientation . . . .

Yes, absolutely. I got one and it made me smarter too, and for some reason, really crave a cigarette now and then.

I don't think so...no. Check the NHS website, it will probabally tell you

DEFINITELY!!!!

No, of course not.
Maybe your friend's attitude change had to do with maturing and growing up (you mention it was within a 3 year time span - people change alot in 3 years, especially during adolescence).

anything can change you if you want it to.

I really don't think so. Your friend is probably just changing on his own.

My mom had to get eight blood transfusions acouple years ago and we've never noticed a difference in her. Her personality pretty much stayed the same.

No, of course not. Well, not permanently anyway. You may feel badly shortly afterwards - put it will not change your character: your brain is still the same. And your blood is continually regenerated, so it is isn't as if your friend has a part of someone else in them right now.
Why did he need the transfusion? Maybe that is affecting his character.

Maybe it was whatever injury or medical condition that caused him to need a transfusion.

no, not at all, it`s only blood, not your brain. If they change it`s because something else is wrong

Absolutely not, your personality is in your head.

What might have changed his personality is the reason WHY he got the transfusion - whatever event in his life made him require the blood. For example a serious accident with a great loss of blood is a pretty traumatic event. Getting an organ transplant because the 'old' organ is diseased is also pretty serious. Any stay in the hospital is pretty serious, really.

Blood is checked and filtered before donation. You probably won't get the "whole" blood but components of it, like red blood cells or plasma, whatever he needs. Blood is just that, some cells that carry oxygen, some cells that fight foreign bodies, and a lot of water.

NO!!!!! I've been sick on and off through out my whole life I've probably been transfused completely at least three times in my life. The last time 15 years ago when I gave birth to my youngest daughter, I started to hemorrhage's and bleed out. I had to have 21 units of blood transfused into me in three days that's almost three times what you have in your body. I did not change my personality although I have a much greater appreciation of life and the people who do donate blood.

yes it was... just keep in mind that, its not the same blood that runs through ur veins before... the once that ur heart pumps before... although u cant see it at the body proportions or at the behavior, still, conflicts exist.. anyhow, thanks ur doctor that ur still alive.. ^________^V

No, but the anesthesia might have had an affect on the brain.

No way
