Blood transfusion?

How bad should your anemia be to get a blood transfusion?
What are the symptoms needed for blood transfusion?

Can anyone help me please

My iron was 9 and normal should be 12.5 for woman. But when i got tests done it felt very serious

Blood transfusion can be life-saving.

REASONS FOR BLOOD TRANSFUSION

Blood loss from injuries or internal bleeding

Blood loss during and after surgery, including organ transplantation

Treatment for leukemia and other types of cancers

Anemia caused by illnesses

Although individual circumstances can be different, anemia (low red blood cell count) REQUIRING TRANSFUSION usually occurs when the HEMOGLOBIN ( HGB) is about 7. . Medical research has shown that significant decreases in tissue oxygen delivery occur when the hemoglobin drops to that level

Bleeding disorders

Iron is available in two forms heme and nonheme. Heme forms of iron are found in meat and poultry and are absorbed quite easily by the body. Nonheme iron is found in vegetable and grains and is absorbed less readily

Normal iron level for women is over 12. Further blood tests can show if the anemia is due to a low iron level. or low body iron stores, but a normal level in the blood.

People with anemia can feel tired, fatigue easily, appear pale, develop palpitations, and become short of breath

Anemia is having less than the normal number of red blood cells or less hemoglobin than normal in the blood. It's usually detected thru the CBC ( complete blood count) Only the count of RBC's and Hemoglobin and Hematocrit are relevant issues in the diagnosis of Anemia.

The treatment of the anemia varies greatly. Firstly, the underlying cause of the anemia should be corrected. such as the diet or iron supplements.

Your anemia might be due to an iron deficiency in your diet. Therefore, in conclusion, doctors normally order blood transfusion for anemic pts when their HGB goes in the dangerous level of 7 and with the symptoms mentioned above.

Unless its a matter of life and death never accept another persons blood...

Blood transfusion guidelines per the American Association of Blood Banking state that a person's hemoglobin should be at or below 7.0 mg/dL for a transfusion. Other indicators would be if a person is actively bleeding or if their doctor believes that the person is truly in need of a transfusion without having gotten that low yet...then he can order it. Some doctors will give blood at around 8.0 mg/dl.

Symptoms at those low values would include shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue.
