Chemicals in cigars? so, I don't get it, why do they put dangerous stuff in there?

Stuff like, chemicals that can also be found in rat poison, hair removal, and other harmful chemicals? Like, why do they put them in? Are they addictive? Are chemicals addictive?

and btw, i live in a city where a lot of ppl in downtown smokes, and im afraid of getting second hand smoke, so, how can i avoid this as much as possible? they're every where from train stations, downtown, and even smokers smoking inside trains....

I can understand why companies want to make their product addictive, but if that's all they have to do, why put other chemicals? why not just the addictive parts?

First of all, cigars don't have chemicals added, cigarettes do. Second, the nicotine is addictive, and that is in the tobacco, not the chemicals the cigarettes are treated with, those are not addictive. Third, don't be afraid of second-hand smoke. It is a scare tactic used by the anti-smoking lobbyists in order to try and build a nation against smoking. Think about the people that are 40-60 right now, they grew up in a time filled with smoking, it was very common and the negative effects were ignored. The people that didn't smoke aren't having problems now, and they were exposed to much more second-hand smoke than we ever will.

Tobacco is very addictive yes and as for all the chemicals that they put in there no I don't think that they are addictive I really couldn't tell you that part because I don't smoke but there is a chance that being mixed with tobacco that they are. As for the town just avoid going in places where there is smoking. And if there is smoking in trains they might have a nonsmoking section so go there.

They put some of these chemicals to perserve the tobbaco inside of the cigar, they also know that cigar smokers don't actually really smoke all of the cigar they sometimes just let it burn. Some cigar's are made of leaves which also contains some chemicals, if your scared of getting chemicals inside of you because of the tobbaco in the cigar, buy non-leave blunt wraps and put some Marijuana inside of the blunt wrap, you'd be consuming 1000 less chemicals than you would consuming the blunt wrap and Marijuana but you'd still be inhaling quite a number of chemicals.

Some of the chemicals are to make the tobacco taste smoother. Some are to keep the cigars lit when you put them down (natural tobacco won't stay lit when you stop puffing).

And yes, while some of those chemicals are also found in rat poison, they are not the active ingredient in the poison. They might be there for the same reason they're in the tobacco--to make the poison taste better to rats.

And some probably are to make the tobacco more addictive. I wouldn't have believed this a few years ago, but cigarette companies were caught manipulating the nicotine levels in cigarettes to make them more addictive, and admitted that they did this!

I don't know if second-hand smoke is really all that dangerous, especially outdoors. I do think it's really annoying though. Most states have forbidden smoking in public places and work places. I guess the only states that haven't are states where a lot of tobacco is grown.

In some towns around here (California) you can't smoke even outdoors within 30 ft. of a doorway to a public building! That means if you're downtown you can't smoke ANYWHERE!
