Is this another problem for COPD sufferers????

A COPD and CHF patient in my family usually urinates at least every hour, but sometimes goes as often as every 20 minutes, or WORSE YET, inisists on sitting on bedside commode for duration of meal_while urinating as many times as the urine comes, I suppose!!!!

She seems to have developed cystitis. At least it's some form of irritation, for she's been complaining about it for few days now, and insists on using cold water repeatedly to relieve herself of it.

My concern is that her pH might be high, though apparently not very high for she's not really fatigued, nor is she having underarm ODOR which is usually a sign. But her urine in many instances is dark to very dark (though I've seen it much worse in her up to a year ago), and it's a little "greasy".

Not being myself a medical professional, and her having limited access to her doctor by being bedridden almost constantly and not even feeling comfortable sitting in wheelchair for duration of visit to doc's office, I monitor all

her symptoms, the usual ones and any new one which may show up. So "dreading" the low pH, with subsequent low sodium/high potassium and HEAVENS FORBID another INTUBATION!!!!, I wonder if this is another "sign" that she already has an elevation of carbon dioxide in her blood?

I'm trying to keep her completely away from all acid foods and the mustard, ketchup she likes. It's coffee I can't keep her away and drinks a little espresso three times a day.

Is this irritation or CYSTITIS a part of daily living for COPD sufferers at some point? Or is it just her by constant urination?

She can't keep going like that, her body is going to shut down. She needs to go to the ER, and needs to go now. Dark urine can mean liver problem, kidney failure, blood, or dehydration. If she's urinating a lot, probably dehydration. Either way, it can't be good.

Please take her to the ER. If you can't transport her due to being bedridden, call an ambulance. She needs medical attention.

dark urine can be alot of things
liver ,uti, bladder infections, kidney infections or stones
it will take a doctor to really know
are they on a fluid pill to make them pee so much?if so they may need potassium
have them drink orange juice and eat bananas

she needs to go to dr. NOW--or call ambulance and have her taken to er---dark urine is usually a sign of blood---COPD usually does not cause frequent urination to that extent--she needs checked out immediately. There is a time to take someone and a time to wait--she should have been taken long time ago, no matter how uncomfortable she gets--she also could have kidney infection
