I'm having no stool, but only small globs of white mucus in the commode after being sick?

I got sick a couple days ago. I didn't vomit, but I had the worst diarrhea I've ever had. I went to the bathroom at least 5 times during that day, and I had very very very watery diarrhea... accompanied by a lot of gas & bloating/some-what abdominal cramps. Throughout the day I had a low-grade fever. I had the worst chills, especially when it came time to use the commode. Now, two days after the fact, I haven't had a normal stool even though I've been eating as much as I know I should be. All I get is this foul-smelling glob of white-yellow mucus. At first I thought I had the stomach virus. Then I thought maybe it was colitis since I had taken clindamycin (Cleocin) for 5 days for a root canal... 11 days before I got sick. I went to my university health clinic, and the nurse practioner thought I was fine. Now I'm wondering if it was food poisoning? I'm just worried because of that white mucus, and nothing else has come out for two days after I stopped the diarrhea.

Oh and I'm fine now- all other symptoms went away except for that mucus-y glob stuff.

You should probably go see your doctor. Clindamycin is associated with an increased risk of infection with a bacteria called Clostridium difficile. This is not a nice little bug to have & ,if left untreated, can result in a condition known as pseudomembranous colitis, which can be serious. No one can diagnose you over the computer so I can't say for sure, but I can tell you that this is not normal & you will need a stool culture and a work up by a doctor.

listen this sounds like c-diff (Clostridium difficile) get tested people who were in hospitals usually get it

mucus in the stool usually means you have IBS....in your case it could just be your stomach cleaning itself out. When people do colon cleansing cleansing, sometimes they have a lot of mucus just come out as well. So, this could just be from having abnormal stools.
