What do you do for commode hugging depression and SSRIs and nothing really works?

Any tips or advice besides jumping in a lake. Take care.

I know other have more to bear, but I need a break and it is not all the time. Thanks toall for answers.

it took years for the right combination to work for me and part of that was adding one of the old antideppressants with one of the newer ones and my whole life changed for the better. much of things getting better for me was to either die or learn what I needed to do to make myself get better. I made more than one serious attempt to die and something always happened so my plan didn't work. their is something spiritual for each one of us as individuals. i'm not preaching god but what it takes in your life to make you feel spiritually whole. i do not believe in god but i did find that hole in my heart that had to be filled by something stronger than me.
Find what works for you, Pamelor 25mg with 40mg of prozac with a mood stabilizer and clonipine have helped me a lot along with taking some control instead of dying.

Keep trying! It took me years of different medication changes to come up with the right combination for me.
Honestly, it's not magic and Psychiatrists are not GOD and they can only keep trying if you cooperate. With Med's and Behavioral Therapy I am a new person and it only took 20 years! I would not change a thing.

Good wishes to you.

talk to your doctor. SSRIs aren't for everyone. I work with people who have various mental illnesses, and it takes their doctors a while to find the right medications. Plus, I was on an SSRI which made me more depressed and increased my anxiety.

If you're ever getting treatment of any kind that you feel isn't working to your benefit, speak up. Only you can advocate for yourself. That's the only way the people who are helping you are going to know if what they're doing is really working.

I would encourage you to reach out - to friends, family, co-workers, therapists, counselors, anyone. the best thing you can do when you are severely depressed is to not isolate yourself. believe me, i know it's hard. i hope my advice helps.

Jumping in a lake is fun, but not if you are trying to kill yourself. (Sorry, bad joke!)

Clinical depression is HORRIBLE! I know; I went through it a few years ago. I had episodes that went on for days where I could only lie in a fetal position in bed and cry.

I finally sought help, and medication did help pull me out of it. However, SSRIs alone don't always do the trick. I needed a combination of an SSRI and one that boosted my norepinephine level. You may simply need to have your medication adjusted a bit.

Counseling can also help you get to the cause of your depression, or if you already know the cause, can help you cope with an unavoidable situation.

Don't give up. Your life is precious, and I believe you have many happy and fulfilling years ahead of you. l'm praying for you.

I have had a great deal of experience with depression and have tried just about every SSRI. These drugs can have nasty side-effects. You may want to experiment with nutritional supplements and/or changes in your diet. I took Omega 3 Plus Joy for 3 weeks, then tossed the SSRI. I then went on Inositol - a B vitamin - which is a natural SSRI. It works immediately. There is no waiting period. The exact product I use is CF IP-6 & Inositol. 616 mg. I take 4 capsules per day. One with each meal and one in the evening. It is manufactured by Enzymatic Therapy, (Canada) Inc. Vancouver, B.C. Canada V5M 3M5. (I do not sell the stuff!) You need more essential fatty acids in your diet. Eat walnuts, ground flax seed, fatty fish, etc. You will notice a big improvement in your mood. Good Luck!

exercise and the right diet, the most important, too much sugar and take you way up, and then drop you. since some sugars give you that rush, and when its over, it over, so you really have to watch what you eat. I don't know how old you are, but their is also adult on set allergies, that can really mess you up. so get out there and exercise and watch what you eat
