Why does my foot fall asleep when I sit on the commode? |
These are some great answers so far. You guys are thinking really hard about this. :) The foot is supplies by L4, L5 and S1 nerves. If it is temporary then it may be positional. It may be due to compression of the nerve at the groin or posteriorly in the sciatic notch. Or you may have a disc L5-S1 level and straining may increase the intraspinal pressure to irritate the nerve root. You are pinching a vein and decreesing the blood flow to your foot. When your in that seated position something is pressing on a nerve. When you sit on a round shaped commode, you are pressing on veins and arteries that supply your lower legs and feet. You should try an oblong commode. All hospitals use them because they know they are better for your legs. |
