Treating sleep apnea?

Before anybody says "Lose weight." I am doing that. About 45 lb. since last January and I'm still losing weight.
Recently I heard about singing as exercise to strengthen the airway to lessen sleep apnea. I'm just back from another sleep study(my 3rd) and even though a different CPAP device was used I HATED it. I heard that a doctor in England? came up with these exercises, but I didn't follow up on the news article. I love to sing and if it improved my health that's an added bonus.

I quit smoking 3 years ago. I lost the weight I gained then and more too.

I have severe sleep apnea too! However, mine is not from being overweight. Some people get it when their chin is recessed. And I also hate the CPAP and find it does not even help me if I manage to keep it on all night and not freak out from feeling claustrophobic. I only know of two things to help, the hated CPAP machine and/or surgery! I've had two surgeries so far, but in my case has not helped. However, it might help you! Never heard of the singing?

I haven't heard of the singing therapy but there are devices that can be inserted into the nasal passages to keep the airway from closing. That's what I'm looking into. I can't stand the CPAP either and finally refused to wear it. I'd rather get some sleep with sleep apnea than no sleep with the CPAP.

ok you do use a cpap good, try some arobics. I use a cpap but had to get my lungs back in shape to get better results, also on my cpap you can raise or lower the output pressure i played with it a little i increased to i think (last i looked) 8-12 lbs area then fine tuned it from there your going to be different but it somewhere to start. there is info on the net kinda check around good luck

Your other option is surgery. Sleep apnea runs in our family from severe to mild. I used to wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I refuse to wear the machine at night. I prop myself up on four pillows at night. Also before going to bed I take a hot shower and drink a cup of tea with honey. It seems to help open my airway. I haven't been to the doctor because I know what it is. I just decided to try things on my own and found what works for me. Also, don't smoke and the singing exercise sounds like a good idea. Good Luck
