I'm always tried. I have sleep apnea......? |
I have a CPAP machine and don't use it cause I'm still tired after using it. It seems like I'm always making dumb mistakes on the job, I'm always feeling moody, I have no energy most of the time. as a first step you should be re-tested to see if you apnea has worsened .. you could be needing oxygen too when you use the cpap.. my sister and half sister both use a cpap my half sister has to have oxygen attached to hers.. it runs in out family and there is a good chance at some point i will develop it too.. maybe .... but get help somewhere else ...more pro you know Go see a doc. They can actually help. Good luck!!! I heard of surgery or something they do to revearse the condition look it up on web MD Sometimes if I'm having trouble sleeping I go sit in a different room, with no lights on (This is is assuming the rest of my family is asleep as well) and after about 10-20 minutes I go back to my bed and try and sleep again. It helps me but it might not help you and it's not a permanent answer either. Maybe you could try it and see how it helps but I really hope you fix your sleeping problems. :) I'm not a Dr...but if you're on depression meds for 5 straight years you've a med issue...Depression meds are supposed to be taken till it goes away...If your depression isn't clearing out with meds it's time to take different ones. I know this as I had a bout with depression recently and was on meds for just over a year now I feel great. So far as the Apnea goes I have that too...my best advice on that is to LOOSE weight...I know you're over weight because most depressives are and that condition will improve greately with weight loss. PEACE! Not a doctor BUT...I think i can still help! First of all...try getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night! Second......your diet. What you eat is very, very important! Try a healthy diet filled with protein (which gives you energy), fiber, only complex carbs (whole wheat)....a lot of water...and try eating very little junk food...if you cant live without it. If you tell yourself that you wont eat ANY junk anymore...that will just make you want to eat it even more after a few weeks. And try to cut out the caffeine, especially if you are drinking lots of it. So with sleep and diet, you should have more energy. Third, exercise! Practice a sport or join a gym, or grab your mp3 player and go for a walk/run. It makes you feel so much better!!! That is the hard way to make yourself feel less tired...people usually know the steps to take but are really just lazy and want a shortcut...........the truth is....there is no shortcut! Take the long, hard way and you will be given a prize. That is how it is with virtually everything. Thebigm has a point. But what makes your depression ease is the endorphins that release with excersise. Its a natural anti depression. If you have sleep apnea and are not using your CPAP then start there. You may need some setting adjustments done on your CPAP if you are still tired after using it. The settings they start you with are not always perfect and adjustments sometimes need to be made. I know it is a pain to have do it, but call your doctor and let him know that the CPAP is not helping. The pressure settings could not be high enough. After age 40, sleep quality and quantity deteriorates substantially as melatonin production in the brain declines. Supplemental melatonin has been researched to dramatically improve sleep/wake cycles and combat age-related insomnia. |
