I have severe sleep apnea. i stop breathing 94 times an hour. is this bad? |
Even if i take a ten minute nap i have to use my cpap machine. Well since you have a cpap I am assuming you already had a study and they told you your AHI (apnea, hypopnea index) is 94. Which means that you have 94 apneas/hypopneas an hour. The normal AHI is 5 events per hour or less. So yes you are extremely severe and you definately need your cpap unit. If you dont you risk the chances of major hypertension aka high blood pressure. You have to realize that your heart is working harder when you are supposed to be at rest than it is while you are awake. This is terrible on your overall health. Using your cpap will improve health and prevent future complications. Trust me it is worth it!! People do die from OSA. Wear it even when you nap. It will save your life somewhere along the way. Its a pretty simple fix for a very serious disorder. yes its bad. I never cease to be amazed...... Have you had a sleep study ? If not you should and then should be under the care of your doctor. with sleep apnea you can die. you need to see a doctor before it's too late. if you have the machine then use it all the time even for a nap. yes it is!!ty to consult you dr asap. maybe he has to give you new set of treatments aside from the cpap. how you ever tried to undergo a sleep study? yes 94 times within a hour????? That is not good at all. Have you talked to your specialist about this? Maybe you need to raise your oxygen levels on your CPap. My sister almost died from sleep apnea, due to this. Really, Get hold of your doctor as soon as possible. That is not something to mess with. I would definetly recommend seeing a specialist as soon as possible. You have a very sever case of sleep apnea. This is a very serious issue that many people seem to take rather lightly. Not only is apnea responsible for several deaths from simply lack of oxygen to the brain, its can also be the cause of other sever health conditions, such as obesity and cardiac disease. If you stop breathing 94 times in 1 hour exactly how many times do you get to breath in........if you know this for a fact then obviously you know that there is something terrible wrong with you |
