CPAP USERS? Everyone talks about this change, and everyone can notice a difference, what is the difference? |
and how is using a CPAP better than sleeping without one? CPAP - once started, give you better quality sleep without the frequent awakenings made by snoring or stopping breathing dozens of times per night. You awaken feeling more rested in the morning and have more energy. Also, you don't fall asleep in the recliner or on the couch the minute you sit down. If there is anyone in your family complaining about your snoring, then you are probably a candidate for CPAP. Also remember, every time you stop breathing at night due to loud snoring, you put a strain on your heart which can eventually increase your risk of a heart attack. I now use a VPAP. Which is a modified CPAP. The difference is instead of drawing air from a steady stream, the VPAP mimics your breathing pattern and pushes air in and will increase when breathing stops or alarm. Just FYI. It's made a significant improvement in my sleep quality. Granted I have pretty bad RLS. I was only waking up approximately 80-91 times at night when tested with bipap. (some recorded cases are well into the 800's plus). And I was having two or three "episodes" inwhich my heart would cease beating. I no longer feel as if I haven't slept in years during/throughout the day. There is a noticeable difference after you've been using it properly for a week or two. My fiance has one, and since he's started using it, he feels so much better. First off, he's getting a better sleep with the air being pushed into his nose. There is no more snoring. He was diagnosed at the sleep clinic, and they told him that he stopped breathing something like 28-54 times an hour! And the longest time was for a minute. So you can imagine the better sleep he is getting with the machine. Also, if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, and don't use the machine, you can at worst die in your sleep. So if you are diagnosed and have to use it, do so! It's not that bad for the person sleeping with you, it's a low blowing sound (at least with his machine) and you get very used to it quickly. Hope this helps! once you get use to wearing the mask(nasal mask in my case) you will notice that you are not as tired when you wake up,and feel more refreshed longer during the day. |
