How do I go about finding a free CPAP machine?

I have Sleep Apnea. I also have blackouts that happen whenever they want to. I never know I had one until after I came out of it. I even spent some time in the hospital a few months ago due to some sever blackouts that I had. I had every test imaginable and nothing came back wrong. That's a good thing. However, I'm still having blackouts.

I just learned on the internet that blackouts can be caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. I'm putting two and two together and realizing that I may be experiencing these blackouts due to a lack of oxygen. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about a year and a half ago and my doctor has never prescribed a CPAP machine for me.

I currently don't have any type of health insurance/benefits and I don't qualify for any state programs. So, I am asking this question to see if anyone knows how I could possibly go about acquiring a free or low-cost CPAP machine?

I also have sleep apnea and I know the machines are very expensive. Go back to your Dr. and ask why you weren't prescribed a CPAP...you do need a prescription to buy one. Ask at the Dr.s office if they know how you can get a free one. If that doesn't work then go to the health supply stores that sell the CPAP. Maybe they know of some way to get one for free. Good Luck.

I wish I knew. My husband has one and it is expensive, even though we are well insured.
