Crutches...Please help!? |
Today I am getting crutches because of some fluid that built up in my knee area. I have never used crutches before, and some people have told me that they hurt your armpits and they are exausting. Does anyone have any tips on walking with them and getting used to them? Any info is appreciated. Thank you! wrap hand towels around the top of the crutches...this will make them semi comfry...and make sure the top of the crutches just comes under the arm pit...they should be adjusted to be straight up and down...from under your arm to the floor...and make sure u wrap hand towels around the hand grips also...so your hands don't get sore...good luck...i wish u well...... Make sure they show you how to use them before you leave the hospital or doctor's office. Maybe you will be able to put slight pressure on the leg that has the knee problem. If so, this will make it a little easier to move around. If you are not allowed to put any pressure on that leg, you will need to be careful in the beginning until you get the hang of using only one leg. Take It Slow!!! |
