Crutches on ice/snow?

i now have a torn achilles tendon, and have to use crutches... but im bout to go back to school, where it is very icy, and alot of snow... any advice to getting around in these condition on crutches?

This might be a good excuse to get out of school!
If you have the ones from the UK, you should be ok cause they suck on the ground. If not you might have to put your foot VERY LIGHTLY on the ground and put most of your weight on the crutches.
