Should I use my crutches?

I have been on crutches for a week now and it still hurts bad (I have a sprained ankle) so my mom took me to a podiatrist and he gave me an ankle brace and said it was sprained and I might have torn a ligament, and says I should use the brace for a couple weeks and if it doesnt get better come back in for ANOTHER x-ray. So he said try not to use the crutches as much so I try to walk on it but I limp and I do it pigeion-toed and it hurts bad! It hurts worse than ever!
It has been swelling and hurts if I stand on it for more than like 15 SECONDS.
I hate my crutches they are so uncomfy and tiring and Im miserable on them. But I do want to get better...except I dread going to school again with those tiring crutches all day long. I mean, my friends help a lot.
I was wondering if i should use the crutches tomarrow or not tomarrow for school.
Should I?
They dont fit in my locker so i was thinking if it hurt I would call my mom to bring them, but Im afraid it'll start hurtin rite away!

yeah, bring them. If your foot hurts too bad, chances are that you are just damaging it even more. If it still hurts badly after you injured it, then use the crutches. It won't help to use the crutches, your doctor just wants you to get back to walking regularly again. Only use the crutches if you really have to though.

Crutches are designed to take the weight off an injured leg and allow it time to heal properly. If you choose to walk without using crutches, you will likely use an abnormal gait to compensate for the pain. Over time, this compensatory gait may lead to injuries in the other leg, hip, back, etc.

It is important to make sure your crutches are sized properly. Also, it is important to practice proper technique to avoid additional injury.

For tips on proper sizing and use, see the link below. You should also ask your doctor/podiatrist for instructions.
