Is this worth reporting or complaining about? |
My husband is a truck driver and recently got hired at a new job. He is required to have a DOT physical and drug test. I know that there are certain requirements when your dealing with the urine test, such as having to have a witness there to make sure it is not tampered with but I think the doctors office was completely unprofessional with my husband during the physical exam. He was told to remove all his clothes, which were taken out of the room (He says this is required to make sure that a patient can't tamper with the urine test.) and then was told to sit on the exam table and wait for the DR. He was not given paper shorts, a gown or a drape to cover up with, he just basically had to sit naked on the exam table. I guess the nurse forgot to tell the DR my husband was waiting, cause he sat there, naked, for 2 hours. The nurse had told the doctor she had no patients waiting and she went to lunch!! This is not a private office, but a large clinic. My husband won't complain. He doesn't get as wired up about stuff as I do, but as his wife, I am furious that someone disrespected my husband that way. If it were a female, I seriously doubt they would ever have done them that way. Where would we complain to?? yes i would complain, first to the company that sent him there for the drug test.i would then call the local health dept and ask who is in charge of making sure drs are following safe health practices. i would then call the dr and ask him if he had resolved this issue within his own office. they say if you have a good experience people dont tell other people ...you have a bad one they tell everyone....i would make sure i spread the word as well wow absolutely...I would defiantly report, and complain about this, this is highly unprofessional, and a form of abuse..I'm sorry this happened. This is worth complaining. I am a nurse and I can't imagine doing that to a patient. That is not very proper and very considerate towards your husband. At all cost, medical professionals are suppose to promote the right to privacy and dignity to their patients and what happened to ur husband is a breach of that right. I urge you to make that complain. I don't know where you live, but I had to get drug tests for several jobs and they NEVER treat people like that where I had to go for my tests! That is beyond the bounds of ethical conduct and should be reported to the state medical board asap! Yes this is a reportable incident with the AMA, if you are in Australia. For any other country, you can contact your medical association. Make sure that you have the names of the staff and doctor concerned, and don't get fobbed of with a measly sorry. To say that they were unprofessional is an understatement. More like assault and privacy deprivation. Wow, that is not acceptable at all. I am a nurse, patient's privacy is a huge thing. I would defiantly report this! |
