I got a bad cut on my leg last night!! I think it's infected!!?

Ok, last night I was walking over to my bed and the frame is metal and sliced my leg!! Everyone is asleep so I just slapped a band-aid on it and went to sleep.. This morning I took the band-aid off and naturally it was bloody...but it is also a yellow-ish color....is it infected? My mom is a registered nurse, but she is asleep because she works third shift at a trama hospital....what should I do?

Gently wash with soap & water. Apply a thin layer of antibiotic cream & cover with a fresh bandaid.
You should be fine.
Put the antibiotic cream & bandaid on every AM & PM until it scabs over. Then leave it open to air dry.

Clean it real good...then use some hydrogen peroxide on it. If it is large enough it may need a stitch. Also...make sure you've had a tetnus shot.

You might want to clean it out with some soap and water or peroxide and then wait for your mom to wake up and show her.

I agree with Nikki

yeah infected for sure. wash it really well with soap and water, then put hydrogen peroxide on it and let it breathe for awhile uncovered if you can. bacteria breeds in damp environments, so keeping it covered isnt necessarily the way to go. if you have to go out cover it with dry gauze.

It OK, just wash it and use some Neo-Sporin (Spelling?).
The yellow is like the blood plasma that separates and dry crusty. You can use some Hydrogen Peroxide to clean it and then the Antibiotic. But, I not keep using the Peroxide, just at first, because sometimes it foam the scab out. Use it once then keep it clean with soap and water and use the antibiotic. The Band-Aid will slow healing. Air help it dry.

All are correct. Physically impossible to infect that fast (the bacteria have to multiply first). Clear, yellowish fluid is tissue fluid. Keep it clean and dry (no bandaids --they let teh skin get all soggy). Keep an eye on it--infected looks very red, painful, swollen and thick pus (greenish to cream) comes out
