Has anybody on here suffered ?

with double vision?

I was watching the TV with my other half on Monday night, no problems at all, my wife said something and I turned my head to answer and I could see two of her. When I looked back at the TV everything was alright, until I turned again to say something to her and again I could see two of her.

Midnight came and I went to bed, slept OK, got up in the morning to take Pauline to doctors, got in car and set off, half way to the doctors two cars came towards me, one on the wrong side of the road so I braked and went as far left as I could. Looked again and there was only one car there. When I got to the doctors which is only 500 yards from my house, I asked if I could see one of them as I was a little concerned, (that's an usderstatment) I was very worried.

To cut a long story short, saw Dr, he sent me to optician, she sent me back to Dr, he sent me to Birch Hill to see specialist, all in two days (not bad for the NHS is it) - brilliant if you ask me.

Apparently diabetes and high cholestrol can cause blood supply to eye muscles to be interupted and nerve and muscle get weak. The specialist (note Iris not expert) has told me that it should rectify itself in about three months but if it doesn't for any reason they can operate and tighten the muscle up.

The strange thing is if I look to my right I have single vision, if I look straight ahead I have doudoubleble visvisionion(this is relevent RO it shows how I see things) but if I look to my left I have double vision double vision.

To explain my last sentence when looking ahead I see two visions overlapping but the further away the object the bigger the space between, I hope that makes sense.

I am getting an eye patch for the short-term, the specialist says the optics person at the hospital will fit me a prism to a pair of glasses until muscle returns to normal.

Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and how they coped?

Whatever you do, don't get the surgery. I did when I was very young. It didn't help and I went through a lot of pain and discomfort for nothing. Use the patch, exercise the lazy eye, and, for God's sakes, take care of yourself... read more about that here:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I鈥榲e listed below鈥?they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:

Thanks, I'm still doing research. The more I learn, the more I realize I didn't know as much as I thought I did. Report It

There are special plastic glasses that you can find in health food stores and/or homeopathic stores. Directions come with them. Wear these for 15 minutes and build up to 2 hours. My sister does it while watching t.v.

I myself did have this, but mine turned out to be a side affect of some stomach medication that I was on at the time. The medication weakened the muscle, do you take anything for an ulcer? I was not a diabetic at the time I had this problem.

I have heard of it happening in diabetics..but i personally have not gone through it

I WOULD LOOK FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR AND GET A SECOND OPINION. tHERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT CAN AFFECT THE EYESIGHT. i KNOW THIS IS ALSO A SYMPTOM OF M.S. AND THERE ARE JUST MANY THINGS AND YOU NEED A SPECIALIST TO VERIFY JUST WHAT IS WRONG
