Please help! Post Natal Psychosis Support?

Almost 2 yrs ago, I had Post Natal Psychosis about 2 days after I gave birth to my first child. I have bipolar, so I was aware that it could happen, but even after seeing quite a few shrinks etc, I still was not well informed. I am looking to have another child in a year or so (no rush) and am terrified of the fact that this is very likely to happen again. I have never been so scared in my life, and even though I'm in Perth, it was the weekend, so there was no proper assistance. (I stayed in the hospital with my son, and partner, not locked up). Does anyone know of any support groups in Perth or online forums etc? Or does any one have any advice about how to possibly deal with it a 2nd time? I'm thinking about going to a private hospital next time, not sure if this will help though. 1 I'm thinking of has a little bit better facilities, like double bed's, own room with fridge, more privacy etc.

I'm quite frightened, and it's even made me think about only having one child, but I just don't want to let the silly bipolar win, as it's f*cked up so much of my life already, and damned if I'm going to let it win.

My main worries are things regarding meds. I actually informed the midwives that I was having a high, and it very quickly progressed to psychosis. Why wasn't anyone monitoring me, asking me how I was feeling etc? I feel almost let down. All over my file, it had BIPOLAR in big letters. As if I can tell if I'm losing grip on reality? I was given Olanzapine, and Valium I think. It took about 2 wks, before I was flat again, but then went into a deep depression.

I really appreciate any thoughts, (only helpful ones tho). Thankyou!!

if i were you,i wouldn't put myself in a situation where psychosis might occur, it could possibily trigger more psychotic episodes in the future. i would recommend talking to a psychiatrist about starting you on an antipsychotic when you're pregnant that is safe for pregnancy that way you don;t wait until it happens and then struggle with it. if you can, preventing it is the best solution.
