Do I have a right to sue or have doctor repremanded by law? |
I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) I've had over 100 documented broken bones. Recently, I had a fall due to bad brakes on my wheelchair. I had plans to find a new PCP but with work and all I just did not have the time until one day I had a week day off. I went to the closest doctor to my home. As soon as he saw what meds I take on a regular basis he turned me away after asking me "What is Osteogenisis Imperfecta? Isn't that some kind of brittle bones) I said yes. I was in a lot of pain but he refused to refill a full month of all of my meds. He called me a drug seeker which was totally devestating to my emotional health. I went home and went to bed depressed, confused and scared as hell. I felt so sick. Not withdrawl sick but really physically sick. I could not get out of bed for 3 days. On the third day I could stand the pain no longer. I wound up in the Hospital for 10 days as I had reinjured L5 and T6 in my back which is why I felt so sick. What can I do? I would absolutely sue. I have never been involved in a lawsuit, and hopefully I never have reason to be, but if your description of events is accurate, I would definitely sue the doctor. What kind of doctor has never even heard of osteogenisis imperfecta? I am a salesman and I have heard of it. My advice would be to find a personal injury lawyer, or an attorney who specializes in malpractice suits, and see what your options are. Beyond that, I would report your doctor to the state. If you don't take action, he may end up treating someone else in a similar condition the same way he treated you, and I can't imagine that you would want anyone else to have to go through that. Your doctor sounds like a real schmuck. I advise you to make a formal written complaint to the Health Commission in you country.I am in the process now with a law suit for my elderly father. He fell off a operating table while under full anasetic. The hospital was negligent also the surgeon. It can be a long drawn out procedure.I am in Australia so make some enquires first. |
