Suicide In Oregon? |
In some parts of Oregon people who attempt suicide or harm themselves are taken to the Emergency room and released back onto the streets after 5 hours. After so many visits to the emergency room the patient is arrested and jailed over night for having too many visits to the emergency room. This is all because there are very few mental hospital beds in Oregon. The rest of the world has been decieved by the movie "One Flew Over The CooCoo's Nest." Contrary to that movie, we don't have mental hospital beds available in Oregon. They were mostly shut down after the making of the film. How is this fair and how do we fix it? one man was even released back on to the streets after five hours even though he had shot himself. It was in the paper. Fire the President! I agree there should be more help for the mentally challenged people. But they say there is no money for it in the budget. It's sad. |
