I am in a wheelchair and have chronic pain and swelling was wondering if any one can tell me why my feet burn?

i have a hospital bed to prop my legs up feet up to help the pain and my feet always seem to burn at night time and someone help me i have nerve damage in my knees and feet to

its the nerve damage that is causing the problems by the sounds of it but it also sounds alot like gout maybe you should get your doc to have a look, good luck x

Depending on why you are in a wheelchair, there are a couple of reasons. If you are paralized, you may have something called reflective pain. This is where something is going on in one area, but because you don't feel it there, it appears somewhere else. It's common with UTI's. Any fever? Best to see your md.

see doctor blood flow might be going down and not coming up.

You should see your doctor to see if there is anything you can do. It possibly could be RSD/CRPS, but I think that it may not be, but I could be wrong. See your doctor, and hopefully they will be able to help you.

Are you able to walk at all?? A few years ago, I was poisoned by toxic mold; and became so weak that I was unable to walk for months. During that time, I had pain in my feet & legs as well as burning at night. So I have some idea what you are going through.

I say SOME IDEA because I'm sure that nerve damage is much more painful than what I went through. I think that being in the position that you are in, you should not be afraid to go to your doctor & ask for a strong pain medication. As I did back then.

Also, there are alternative pain therapies. Just simple relaxation exercises can make a difference. There are many more available.

You answered your own question. Its the nerve endings causing the burning sensation. I have found rubbing the area can give some relief.
