I recieved my date for admission to hospital, but have to ring at 7.30am,to make sure theres still a bed for me |
has anyone else experienced this kind of thing when due to have an operation? i am having a hysterectomy, and am panicking, as my partners work are being funny with him over taking time off to help me ,as i have a baby, and a disabled daughter to look after. he is allowed to book 9 emergancy days off,but if my operation is cancelled then i know that they will not be pleased about being messed around. i have so much on my mind at the moment and dont need the added stress this has caused. my partner is in a union, but they dont seem to be helping much. can anyone advise me what his rights are to compassionate leave? my health is very poor at the minute and am suffering with quite a few illness's. am just worried that they will cancel this much needed operation, and cause extra worry and stress which i could do without,as i suffer with anxiety and panic attacks.i know the opreration has to be done, just very concerned it could be cancelled.kind, genuine answers only please.thanks xx Hi again, This happens all the time. My husband rang at 7.30am then 10.30am, 2.30pm and 5pm and was told to ring the following day. He went in three days later, only to be sent home again. Yes, This is normal. A family member had a operation and the same Advise was given to her. Good luck with everything.........................Have a good christmas x I had this happen to me for a surgery. When I called in the day before I was told they didn't have a bed for me. I asked to speak to someone in charge and kindly explained to them that it was a drawn out process to take the 6 weeks off from work, a temp had already been hired, family members had flown in from another part of the country to care for me and this was the date I was given by the surgeon and the hospital and I expected to have a bed. The administrator was very kind and found me a bed. Unfortunately most hospitals do this, if there has been some sort of emergency there may not be a bed available. As for your husbands work, i get where you are coming from there, my husbands boss docked him two days wages when I was rushed in to hospital having a miscarriage. All he can do is explain to his work what the situation is, telling them that if the operation is cancelled he will be in to work. I'm not sure how many compassionate days leave he is entitled to, but he may have to take normal holiday too. I had to get used to it I had my op cancelled 5 times it all depends if there is any emergencys,it is very stressfull nobody knows how much till they have been there, good luck. Yes, when I was booked for mastectomy. They gave me a priority bed the next week. |
