Obese woman had heart attack hospital beds not big enough for her, heart attack was from abcess tooth? |
aired on public tv about 2 years back an obese woman was taken to the hospital with chest pain but the hospital was unable to care for her do to her size and had to find a hospital that could accomodate her needs. The heart problem was the from an abcess tooth or a tooth ache or something along that line As a dentist I can tell you that the answer above is absoluetly WRONG. An abscess is a localized infection, but it IS possible for the infection to spread into the bloodstream and travel to the heart causing problems and can also cause severe upper airway obstructions. No. An abscess would not spread to the heart. Her heart problem is separate from any dental problem. She could have had a heart attack from pain complications but not directly from her tooth. Also an abscess is localized and doesn't spread much because it is mainly a response to the body fighting off infection. |
