I need advice on how to evaluate hospital beds in order to buy one for home use.?

Want full-electric bed.

It's best to actually see the bed, lay down on it, try it out. Look at how wide it is. Depending on the condition of the person who will be using it...is there enough room to turn from side to side, yet is it narrow enough so one person can do care for the patient. Do the side rails go all the way down, and how easy are they to operate. Does the bed itself go down far enough to make getting out safe, but up far enough so a table tray or lift will fit underneath? Is the hand control simple enough to understand and easy to use, depending on the condition and ability of the patient?

A hospital bed itself is probably fairly standard. The most important aspect will be the mattress. That's a matter of comfort. If the patient is bed bound, the normal bed mattress is most likely not going to be enough to prevent pressure areas or discomfort. You will want to look into some sort of air mattress, either electric alternating or gel or maybe just egg crate foam to start off with.
