I stopped breathing, with my eyes open, unresponsive to emergency crew and my children, what is wrong?

I have multiple sclerosis, I work at the hospital the ambulance took me to. All they did was a drug test(NEGATIVE) and a CT scan. Everything was normal. But my eyes are puffy, I can't see very well, and I am exhausted. PLEASE PLEASE help me. My neurologist won't do the MRI that was suggested, and my hospital does not have MRI equipment and facilities. I am scared to go back to work, what if I just fall like I did before or become paralyzed on one side again? Did I mention that I am also very dizzy and my body feels very heavy. I have a headache that comes and goes, but maybe that is from the stress. SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE . I usually enjoy humor, but I am very scared right now. Thank you in advance,

You could have a serious problem here and the fact that your Neurologist won't do an MRI is just wrong. Is it because of insurance reasons? Can you get your family MD to order the MRI? First I say get a new Neurologist, but since appointments these days can take weeks and months..I would go to your family MD and plead your case. The lack of diagnosis should not be acceptable to him/her and hopefully they can steer you in the right direction. Sorry I can't help with an actually diagnosis, but do you really want one from yahoo anyway?

Find a new neurologist today !!!! MS can cause many, many things to go wrong. Nothing is black and white and a good neurologists should know this.

The symptoms you mentioned are indicative of a stroke. An MRI needs to be done to assess and brain changes and to assess for any bleeding. If I were you, I would insidt on that MRI and I would find another neurologist. If he is declining anMRI that could be beneficial to your treatment, he could be being very conservative on managing your MS as well.

Find a new doctor and locate another hospital that does do MRI's. This is your life, don't let others
treat you that way. Demand that something be done.

The doctor title does not make them all knowing or all good .
They are over loaded humans like most others and

YOU need to seek another one, until you find one that has the time and focus to deal with your issues .

People with MS are more prone to epilepsy, so it is possible that you may have suffered a seizure, although that's not exactly what you've described. It may be more likely that you've had some paroxysmal (intermittent) paresthesias (numbness and tingling of a body part) or dysarthria (difficulty talking). Again, this can happen with MS. Treatment often involves the use of anticonvulsants. Symptoms sometimes go away on their own. I'm sure you know already that fatigue is a cardinal symptom of MS.

PS I am a doctor. I agree that you should not be satisfied until you receive a good explanation for what happened, and that some docs aren't as good as others. However, there's a reason why we don't throw every test at everyone that walks in the door - money (and by the way, not mine but yours). Maybe when an MRI is a lot cheaper (and safer, btw), we'll have them set up at the main entrances like metal detectors. Until then, medical professionals use their judgement to guide what tests to order. I suggest asking your doc why he didn't get the MRI.

You need to find a new doctor and a new hospital ASAP! Sounds like you had a seizure or stroke.
