What do professional gyms do with their old equipment?

I was a member of the gym at my hospital, but just changed jobs, and will have to pay high fees to remain.

I went ahead and bought an elliptical trainer for home, but one thing I will really miss is the stomach machine. I have neck problems, and the ability to sit up, and push the weight down with my chest - not using my neck - was a great way to avoid further injury.

I've seen all the 'ads' for stomach machines, but I find the ones at professional gyms seem to work best for me. If they happen to go on sale (for less than $1000) when replaced, I would love to buy one.

Can anyone shine any light on this?

they sell the machines, in the gym i went a long time before they changed the machines and were selling the old ones but very expensive more than $1000 and it was just a bike
