What do you know about infection control in hospital?

what do you know about general recommendation . hand hygiene , selection of protective equipment , safe use of disposal sharps , hazards waste disposal , in infection control in hospital?

There is so much information about infection control for hospitals that there is usually a department (even though it usually only has one employee) to manage the regulations and maintain standards regarding infection control in the hospital.

Hand washing is the number one preventative method for prevention of passing on infections in a hospital. As a hospital nurse, I take care of up to 7 patients at one time - this can add up to 8 or 10 patients per shift if I discharge and/or admit new patients under my care. I also walk in and out of rooms to assist other nurses in care when something takes more than one person. I might touch 15 different people with 15 different health issues during my 12 hour shift. Think about how many germs I could pass along if I didn't wash my hands or use antibacterial gel that the hospital provides between each patient!!

The greatest hazard is when someone tends to one patient and doesn't wash their hands before tending to another. An infection is easily spread this way. Medical Acepsis (infection control) can vary with hospitals.
