How serious is bacteria in the bloodstream from pnuemonia? |
my daughter has been in the E R...for 5-6 hours...the dr that checked her the night before..she was diagnosed with pneumonia in her left lung and they sent her home last night...so they called her back today and said she had a blood infection, that she need to come over right away to start her on IV's of antibiotic and fluids...she gets there and they send her back thru the ER and she has waited this long for them to start the IV's..that is ridiculous to have to wait this long for treatment...how serious is bacteria in your bloodstream?...don't you think they should've have taken her in right away....they finally admitted her ..after 6 hours of waiting..coughing and in misery...hospitals ought to be more considerate and caring than that. what's your opionion? Bacteria in the bloodstream is very serious, so its not a condition where you would want to take any unnecessary risks, such as delaying treatment.. Waiting 6 hours is cruel and unnecessary. A 6-hour wait is not long enough to significantly increase the medical risk if she was not showing any signs of secondary problems caused by the infection, but why take chances?. Bacteria in the blood stream is serious. Bacteria can travel to other organs and cause infections to it bringing multiple organ damage. They should have not waited that long to admit your daughter. they have very bad service. Longer time to treat your daughter might make her health conditions gets worse. |
