They took my tonsils out, thinking that's where an infection has been residing. Now What?

Was running high fevers, swelling throat, problems breathing etc.... They took tonsils out to fix those problems. 1 week after surgery, I have some swelling starting back, and have dealt with very high fevers eveey day this week.
(btw: I am 41 yrs old).
Fever wlil spike to around 104 every few hours. Once it went to 105.7...the average spike is around 103.6.

I have a Dr. appoinment today, and Here is my question. Do I demand the Dr. find the issue once and for-all so we can try toi get back to normal? Should I demand to be placed in the hospital for a couple o days so they can IV me some antibiotics?
I really do not want to stay in the hospital. I have insurance and all that, but I am a single father of 2 young kids, and I really need to be at home. HOWEVER. I cant afford to be sick any longer. I have to get this done right away, so if geting layed up for 2 days does it, I will do it.
Any advice?

Wow! It does sound like you have a terrible bacteria in your body. I would definitely ask the doctor about getting I.V. antibiotics. They can give you an i.v. pump that you wear on your body.

Demanding that your doctor find the issue, well, that's a tough approach, as it sounds like he is doing everything possible to help you. Have they cultured your sputum to see what kind of bacteria you are dealing with? You may want to ask him that.

Also, he needs to run extensive blood work, to determine if you have a viral or bacterial thing going on. Ask that he do this too.

I wish you well soon. Please keep us updated on your progress.

First of all i would not be demanding anything except a thorough examination. Tonsils can grow back and the infection can spread to the rest of the throat. Don't worry you probably don't need to be hospitalised. Take some tylenol/paracetamol for the fever and discuss the rest with your doctor.
