High White Blood Cell Count and Low Lymph Count?

I currently have a kidney infection that is resisting treatment. I have been treated over the past two weeks and my doctor is now referring me to a specialist. I was on an antibiotic IV and am starting my 2nd round of anitbiotics. I have had three lab workups in that time.

I know that it is probably nothing but I am scared about the results. My white blood cell count started at 17, then 16.2, then 14 (normal is 4-10.5). My lymph is the only other thing that has been out of the standard and it was 14, then 31, then 21.8(normal is 20-45). I have been doing some online research and it says that low lymph CAN BE from an infection, but more likely AIDS or Cancer. My family has a history of cancer and I am terrified, but I don't want to look like an idiot or stress for nothing.

I realize that most of the lymph results were in the normal range and the doctor didn't think anything was off, but that still scares me.

hey dear, dont worry that much... ur leukocyte(WBC) levels r raised coz of the infection. also the lymphocytes alone r not that good an indicator, and 14 on differential count isnt that big a variation from normal (20-40). just one example there r some cancers where lymphocytes increase and there r some where the decrease too... so not a dependable index.
just trust ur doc and relax a little, trust me, with ur family history positive any good doctor would take no chances with u and do enough examination and testing if anything is even mildly suspected.
take care. -aaveg.
(cant go in details coz dont know abt what type of carcinoma is there pravailing in ur family)
