How long should you stay away from people when you have mrsa?

i am a home health nurse, i contracted mrsa from my husband last week, i received antibiotics and IV rocephin, i've washed my hands,, my wound is almost healed,,?? i'm leary of going around "patients" ,, how long should i wait? my dr tells me,, about a week?? i only work part time,, i don't want to spread it or jeopardize anyone elses' health,, thanks

Hi, Given that you are caring for vulnerable people it would be recommended that you have a repeat screen sent to ensure that the MRSA has cleared up. Presumably your husband's infection is also being treated?

well im a paraplegic and have had mrsa many many times im almost resitent to it but if your patients are very sick wait at least a week

a week is probably good as long as you are on your medicine. i had it and even when i wasn't on meds no one got it from me. so you should be ok.
