Do I need to return to the ER?

On friday evening my PCP sent me to the ER were I was diagnosed with Lymphadenitis. I was given an IV with antibiotics, morphine, fever reducer and a muscle relaxer. I was fine on Saturday and took all the medicine as directed. Sunday and today, my fever returned, the stiffness in the neck and the pain as well. I am continuing to use the medicine as directed but am not getting any relief from the pain or fever. I scheduled an appointment with my PCP but as they couldn't treat or diagnosis my illness the first time, I am wondering if I should return to the ER or go to the PCP. Now the Er Dr did say if I wasn't getting better, I should return to the ER. Would 4 days of antibiotics start working yet as I was only given 7 pills?

You can call the ER desk and ask them these same questions - they may tell you to come in so be prepared. Good luck!

YES FOR SURE YOU NEED TO RETURN!!!

Absolutely go back to the ER. They may want to add another antibiotic to the one you're taking since it appears not to be very effective yet. You can take Advil for the fever until you get to the ER. Might help a little with the pain too. At the ER they will probably also give you additional pain medication. Hope you feel better soon.

I am not a doctor but I have had my fair share of illnesses where I have been on anitbiotics. A fever that lasts while your are on anitbiotics is NOT GOOD. If I were you, I would go back to the ER. Check out the link to information on your diagnosis.

Go to the ER. Your doctor wasnt prepaired the first time to treat you they probably still cant

Also stiff neck is a RED FLAG

Yes, you need to return.

The fact that you got better for a few days is a good sign.... but then the symptoms returned four days later... which is a bad sign.

Don't freak out or panic or anything.... there's no harm in calling your PCP and asking him to fit you in. It is possible that now that you have been diagnosed (regular doctors just don't have as much equipment as an ER) he can treat you. Give him a call. Maybe ask to be referred to a specialist.

The ER is great and all, but those guys are too busy and they miss things sometimes. Call and get the name of a specialist.

You need to return ASAP!!!
