Radiation for Hidradenitis Suppurativa?

I've had H.S for 2 years now under my breasts. I've tried medications, and was even hospitalized for 2 weeks w/ IV antibiotics. Last year I had a large portion of my left breast removed, and my lesions came back within 3 months. Has anyone heard of or had radiation to treat this condition? I'm sick of this!

Hi. I have had HS for over 15 years, so I can truly understand where you are coming from in wanting to find some relief for your pain. When I was first diagnosed, I was Stage 3 in the groin and borderline 2-3 in all other areas. Even though I had heard that surgery could cause the HS to travel to other areas of the body, I was desperate for relief and underwent surgery in the groin area. Within 1 year of the surgery, I had applied for SSDI, was approved and am considered to be disabled by SSA.

I have heard of radiation therapy for HS, but have never undergone it. However, you have to remember that what works for one may or may not help another. I am supplying some links that might help you find information regarding the radiation therapies and the results.

If you are not a member of the HS Awareness group, you might wish to join them b/c I know that there are members in the group that have gone through radiation treatments for HS. I have also provided a link to the Awareness Yahoo group.

I hope the links below will offer you some of the information you are seeking. I made a personal decision after the failed surgery I underwent to not go through any further invasive treatments, but that was my personal choice.

After reading all the information available, please have an indepth discussion with your physician regarding the possible outcome. Some people have had success but, in others, the disease has worsened.

Good luck to you!

i dont know but im sorry for you.
I hope you get better.
God bless you
