I have been ill for nearly 15 weeks, and the doctors don't know whats wrong? |
About 15 weeks ago, there was blood in my urine. I went straight to the doctors, who told me it was a water infection and gave me anti-biotics and sent me home. I had two more lots of antibiotics after that, which had little or no effect, and then I started getting kidney pain. I was told that tha infection had spread to my kidneys, and sent home with more antibiotics. When I finished those, I was feeling worse than when I started them, and a doctor admitted me to hospital, where I had two days of IV antibiotics, and was then sent home with more tablets, which had no efffect at all, and I was still getting pains from my kidneys and all over my abdomen. I have had an ultrasound of them, which was clean, and am waiting for the results of an IVU (x-ray of the kidneys). The biggest problem is that all the urine and blood tests they have done have come back negative, except for one which was postive for leukocytes, so I am worried that nothing is going to be done. I am female, not quite 18, and still a virgin. The problem I have had is that until easter, I never saw the same doctor twice, because I kept getting emergency appointments and just seeing whoever was available. I am sticking with one doctor now, who is trying really hard to help, but because all but one of the tests have been negative for everything, I don't think she really knows what to do. I have got an appointment with a urologist, but not until july. And the pain is definitely, 100% from my kidneys, because I was born with my left kidney in the wrong place (down inside my pelvis) and i am getting pain there on my left side and not on my right side. Hello Annabel i am not sure what could be wrong but i wiould like to say I am so sorry to hear about this, and I want you to know that I will pray for your recovery from this ordeal.God bless you. leucocytes are not unusual to be found so dont worry too much. is it possible that youve had a reaction to the antibiotics? they will make you feel awful anyhow . also if you ve taken painkillers with codiene in they can give you stomach cramps . The most obvious thing is, yes, an infection of your kidney/s since you have positive results for leukocytes (they fight infections). It may seem thou that the body + antibiotics can't fight the infection effectively and that may lead to think of a problem of the immunity system OR of a VERY serious infection which requires surgical action in order to clean it. Have you seen a Urologist? What you are describing is a suborn UTI -Urinary Tract Infection which if not resolved will cause kidney problems. As for having kidney pain - you are not. You would have to be in the last stages of Renal failure for that to be which you are not. If you were it would be very obvious and you would have been sick for a long while. You need to have your urinary bladder looked closely at and soon. Have any of these doctors been kidney specialists? If not, I would insist on a consult. It sounds as if you have a serious problem. The first thing you should do, is change doctors. Sometimes pain can be coming from the intestines and feel like it's from the kidneys. Maybe you need to have an MRI that will scan the kidney's for stones? But I'm sure they have already done that. Maybe it isn't kidney's after all. You haven't stated if you are male or female. You may need to visit an ob-gyn if female? Blood work is the key. There they will find out tons of things and screen for them to narrow down to a cause. Good Luck. Most anti-biotics make me really ill,so now I get stuff from our local health food shop or via t'Internet. Colloidal Silver is a very powerful healer and worked wonders on the recurring kidney infection I had during chemo, and my sister who is a herbalist in Australia has recommended you take Cats Claw as that treats nearly every infection within a day or so. Hope you feel better soon pet. i hav recouring cystitis and hv had some pain in my kidneys too, i took anti biotics for 4 months. It sounds like you are doing all you can mine doesnt sound nearly as bad as yours i had no bleeding and it comes and goes i also had a scan that showed everything was fine. I hav become addicted to cranberry juice lol . Take ibruprofen and lots of cranberry juice keep pestering the docs to do what they can for you coz the pain is awful and is no fun what so ever my doc also talked to me about going on a continuous dose of anti biotic. good luck xxxxxxx You are having a kidney infection. Please see a Urologist. He will be in a better position to treat you. Dont keep changing antibiotics. They will harm you more than repair. Check for nephritis, there will be some more tests by which your kidney function will be verified. |
