if it ruptures it will take up to 7days or more then to change to oral antibiotics usually in this case patient will be hospitalized for about two weeks

When you are dealing with peritonitis (infection in the abdomen) you want to make sure all the infection is gone. You're usually off after two days. If you contracted an infection during or immediately after the surgery, then it is up to the doctor.
