Doctors order: Infuse D5NS, pack RBC, Antibiotic IV, Q: w/c order to be given first? why?

Start with the D5NS since it's going to take a couple of hours for the patient to get type and crossed and the Blood Bank to deliver the blood. It will also take a while for the pharmacy to mix the antibiotic.

When you transfuse the blood, you'll need to run Normal Saline and not the Dextrose.
