Can a blood infection return after a course of IV antibiotics and hospital dischage.? |
how long does it take for your body to show the side effects that a blood infection is established? i ask because a friend of mine said for a long time that they felt unwell but it wasn't until he began shaking and we dialed 999 that we realised he had a serious blood infection. i want to know what to look out for if it returns unexpectantly. Sepsis, or a blood borne infection, will typically respond to the antibiotics within 48-72 hours. If they were to not be fighting the infection the hospital would know it as they should have done blood work every 12 hours during inpatient stay to watch the white cell counts to see the progression against the infection. Yes, a blood infection can return if it was not successfully treated and cured before you left the hospital. Depending on what type of infection it is, you might see the veins turn odd colors though the skin and run a high fever. |
