Concern for Nephew - please help? |
My nephew and his friend spent last week with us at the lake. We all came home on Thursday. Friday morning my nephew fainted, his mom took him to the ER. While waiting for a room, he had two seizures, his blood pressure was 80 over 25. They did a MRI, heart test ....etc and everything was normal. My nephew said he was couging Friday night and took a tsp of cough medicine that had codene in it. The doctor couldn't find any just cause for his seizure or blood pressure drop. He also had a low grade fever. After fluids through and IV and anti seizure medicine, he was sent home. Yesterday he went to his regular doctor, where he was diagnosed with a sinus infection and given antibiotics. However, they want him to see a neurologist for the cause of the seizure. They can't see him until next week. My nephew said he still doesn't feel very good, no appetite, tired. He also said when he goes into the sun, he feels dizzy, like it will happen again. What could be going on? They checked him for dehydration, it came back negative. Seizures run in my family. But when related to illness if he had a sudden spike in his temp it could cause him to have a seisure called fiberal ( my daughter had one at 18 months ) later told me she had a mild case of menigitis not the serious kind as far as going in the sun some people develope a sun allergy and don't relize it. Talk to the doctor and see what they say but my now 5 year old daughter ( my youngest ) has developt this allergy. But not severe she gets a rash on her head that looks like craddle cap. Something all babies get. And she tires easy in the sun. But if she keeps a hat on, lite clothes and limits time in the sun she is o.k. love to help but we are not doctors please leave the diagnosis to them Something similar like this happend to me also. eventhough he is probably drinking fluids he was most likely dehydrated and he needs to drink more water. I passed out in my schools cafeteria last year and it was due to dehydration. |
