When starting a caffeine laden IV drip, how many cc should I program it to deliver?

AND.... What precautions should I take, with this IV bag rolling around behind me all day ??? I'm seeing issues of strangling people already..

(It would seem that I caught the "Answers" insomnia bug which has been making the rounds. I ended up tossing and turning all freakin night !)

Steps for self medication of caffeine:

1) Sterilize a 500 cc IV bottle along with a funnel, a rubber stopper and some rubber tubing.

2) Using the funnel, fill the bottle to the 300 cc line with your favorite caffeinated beverage.

3) Using the funnel again, add in cream, half-n-half, or other beverage enhancements.

4) Put in the rubber stopper and shake bottle (unless you've added carbonation) well to mix all ingredients.

5) Have your Rotary peristaltic feeding pump at the ready!

6) And hook up the IV to your Rotary peristaltic feeding pump. (more detailed instructions on this part will cause kids at home to try this...so I'm not going there.)

Now...you'll want a pump that is compact and weighs only 1.3 pounds, so it is ideal for ambulatory use. Make sure it runs on a rechargeable NiMH battery so it'll run 24 hrs before needing to be recharged. What's really nice, is that you can set the speed of caffeinated delivery right there on the pump!

7) Put the whole shebang into a nice little backpack, stick the rubber tube into your mouth, flip the switch on your Rotary peristaltic feeding pump.

8) Now you're set! Enjoy your highly caffeinated day!

I'd like to thank all the little people I stepped on to get here. Report It

its probably best to use about 100cc per hour and snort some coke if you feel yourself fading

20 ounces Colombian coffee... forget the iv and administer rectally

why program for a drip, open the lock and let it just flow through, a few runs a V tach will keep you potent, and if it gets too bad you can always come see me in the ER.

Obviously, more would be required on Mondays. Fridays may not require much at all, if you have a good weekend planned and are psyched up for it. The rest of the week can vary. Mine changes drastically depending on my next job location and method of travel. Last week I almost created a worldwide shortage. Today - less than 2 full cups.

I'm way past IV drips and have opted for full transfusions. Isn't it interesting how the tone of the questions change around 3 AM? When I want a good laugh, I just read some of the blithering I write around that time.

PLEASE tell me where I can get one... I'll do anything!!!
