Breast Cancer & CMF Regime?

HI Everyone:)

I am currently taking CMF.

Day 1 I take all Meds. C by pill, M & F by IV.
I date the C for 14 days straight on Day 8 I again take the M & F by IV. Then I get 14 days of rest. I was told I woul do 6-8 cycles of this.

My question is. On Day one the infusion took about 90 minutes. However as I do research on CMF I find a lot of information where the infusions are only take 15-60 minutes. Why is it is so different.

Please any information on CMF and any personal experieces would be nice. thanks in advance...

THINK PINK!!!!

Hi, I am an Oncologist.
CMF Regime doesn't really have an "upper limit" of infusion time, so first thig is that there is no problem with regards to the difference in times u have read about and the time it was for you.

As a fellow answerer has pointed out we generally prolong the time during first cycle, to observe hypersensitivity if any.

You can email me from my profile for anything else that may be bothering you

I am on # 4 CMF, but all mine are by IV. I go every 3 weeks for 8 treatments.
The first time mine took longer too, they said to make sure that I don't have an allergic reaction. Since I get the C by IV too, mine all together (with nausea meds first) takes about 1 1/2 hours.

If you like more info feel free to email me, and there is a website www.breastcancer.org with a threat in the forum for CMF. There are ladies that do the combination too.

No, not necessarily. In the olden days, there were no pumps, but central catheters were commonplace, too. I assume pumps are used mostly for reliable control of infusion rate and for safety.
