When a patient have a IV what effect does the infusion have on the heart since it's going through the veins."

The veins take blood back to the heart.

The returning blood goes to the heart, out to the lungs and picks up oxygen, then back to the heart, and out to the body through the aorta. A small amount of the blood outgoing from the aorta goes back into the heart muscle itself.

A large vein in the arm is a nice safe place for the IV to get the medication quickly to the heart.

all blood passes thru the heart and whatever is in the IV will pass thru the heart, too
