Pain and swelling from injection sight? |
ijection sight was from an IV. was in hospital. Do not listen to the above answers. You need to go back to the hospital asap because you probably have an infection. Is it hot when you touch it? Is it red? If you also are having these symptoms, you need to see your doc right away. Infections in an IV site can cause a systemic infection---can be very serious. I would make an appointment with your doctor or call the hospital where you were seen right away in the morning. It is not normal to have this much pain from an I.V. site, especially since the pain is migrating. Report It That is common with injections. It was left in for a bit I'm sure. The needles used are bigger than a standard injection, I gave blood 2 days ago & am still brused. Not too worry it will go away soon. It's possible to happen after you have an IV. I've had it happen several times after I've had my IV's from all of my surgeries, I've even had it when they missed. Once I had bruising that lasted for over a month because they bursted my vein after they dug around trying to get the IV started. You can try ice, and heat to see if anything helps. Also keeping it elevated (extremity above your heart). Good luck! |
