I would like to know the side effects of the drug, Boneva.?

This medication can be given orally, in tablet form. I more interested about the IV injection. My niece has cancer & they are giving her this medication to lower her estrogen level.Thank you

Boniva [Ibandronate] side effects

Important things you should know about ibandronate

Ibandronate may cause serious stomach and esophagus (the tube that connects your mouth and stomach) problems including heartburn, ulcer, or trouble swallowing. Take ibandronate exactly as prescribed in order to lower the chance of serious side effects.

Take ibandronate first thing in the morning at least 1 hour (60 minutes) before you eat or drink anything other than plain water, or take any other medicine.

Above is off their website...however, Boneva is a drug for osteoporosis....wondering why they are using it to lower estrogen level ?

IV bruise?

Not really that infrequent, the needle probably was not put in/pulled out completely straight. (Can also depend on what was in the IV, same that you have had before?)

Would have thought that whoever gave the injection would have mentioned the prospect of any side effects. If your not happy about the pain consult your GP or whoever did the injection.
