What is the best method for IV injection? NEEDLE INTO A VEIN should only be done by a professional Put on your gloves. Apply the tourniquet. Palpate the vein. Cleanse the skin. Allow the prep to dry. Insert the needle. Release tourniquet once in the vein. Depress the plunger so the medication is administered at the prescribed rate.
