I have a huge fear of needles, how can I cure my fear of them? |
Every time I see a shot, needle, IV, anything like that I get the feeling that I am going to pass out. My ears start to ring and I get really dizzy and my vision starts to go. I have done this since I was about 8, before that I never had a fear. Why do I have this fear now, how can I get rid of it. Considering it puts a little damper on things, once I decide I want children (the epidermal). I just need some advice when it comes to overcoming this huge disgust and fear of anything that sticks in my skin, or others skin, and takes blood. BLUCK! in general exposure therapy is helpful the more you do or see something the more you will be used to seeing or doing that and the easier it will be. Maybe visit the local blood donor place every day or spend a few hours there. take psychotherapy. The first answer is good...I think exposue to it is definitely the key. I was the same way, if I needed a blood test I would invariably faint and wake up to smelling salts in my nose. Then I started working in the medical field,,I noticed little by little I was not so freaked by needles. Now I draw blood for a living (go figure) and it doesn't bother me at all to have MY blood taken either. cure the fear by facing it. get a tetanus toxoid shot, it wont hurt you... and you buy the needle, get the smallest thinnest one, baby steps... :) i was told its good just to be around needles more often you will get use to seeing them and its really not that bad .I too use to be very afraid of needles and would faint eat lots of sugar and drink water! good luck to you! |
