Does an IV injection to the arm hurts when being put to sleep? |
I HAVE TO HAVE A TOOTH PULLED, AND THEY WANT TO INJECT ME WITH AN IV IN THE ARM IN ORDER TO BE PUT TO SLEEP, BUT IM SO AFRAID OF NEEDLES, ESPECIALLY IV'S.... WILL IT HURT?? No, it doesn't hurt. Once injected, you will fall asleep in less than 10 seconds. The stuff they use for putting you under for dental work isn't that bad. It stings about as much as a bee sting. It depends who puts it on you. Alot of the times the nurses or doctors or whoever puts them on are real good at it. But sometimes you get these idiots that don't know what they are doing. So just close your eyes and it will be over before you know it. It shouldn't if done properly. I've done hundreds of IVs in my career and very few complain of any pain. It usually feels like a little pinch and its done. Just don't look while they're doing it, you'll be fine. it may pinch when they stick you and will sometimes burn when the medication is administered, but is usually tolerated by most people. Just try to relax yourself and try not to think about it when they're getting ready to give you the shot. It will hurt less if you are relaxed. not really just don't look I was in the same situation. I was sooooo afraid! But guess what it doesn't hurt! But think about this.....even if it did hurt, you'd only feel it for about 5 seconds and then.....BAM....your out! By the time you wake up you won't even remember the pain (that wasn't even there). Yeah, it's not that bad. Sometimes they put a numbing cream on the area where they will stick the needle. Get a grip. It's only a needle. Needle's barely sting if anything. You've got to get some courage. There are a lot worse things to be hurt by. Doesn't even sting as much as a bee sting, but it is a little like that, and it is quick. And it sure does beat the pain of a toothache by a long shot, and also beats having them inject a lot of novocain into your jaw and ripping the tooth out while you are awake. JUST A BIT BUT NOT MUCH AT ALL AFTER YOU WAKE UP YOU BARELT REMEMBER IT ANYWAY YOU WILL BE JUST FINE JUST DOUNT LOOK ITS JUST A MIND THING!!!!! not to any worst than normal IV's. Just don't think about they are doing. Focus on something completely different and it will be all over before you know it. Oh no, not at all!! If you've ever had blood drawn or given blood then it feels just the same. They give you some laughing gas before the stick the needle in, so you can't really feel it. The most pain that you will feel is a little pinch and a slight burn for a couple of seconds, but almost immediately after they put the needle in, your asleep. No but ask for sweet air first and you wont care if they are gonna cut your arm off. Really painfull !!!! It feels as if you are getting stung by a bee. If the person doing it is good at their job, you may only feel a little prick and the actual medication can and usually does send a warm/burning sensation through out your body. Before you know it, you won't feel a thing. Well you have an option either take the IV or take the local anasthesia while they hacking and pulling your tooth.. |
