Upper arm swollen bluish tinge, pain, & warm 9 days after IV for surgery? |
hubby had catheter ablation for SVT 9 days ago. no problems till today now the inside of his arm above the crook is swollen, kind of blue looking and painful to touch and warm. what the heck! He had an IV in his upper arm, and it was a very difficult stick, much digging, and changing directions without pulling it all the way out, nurse said some vauge stuff about hitting a block where nothing would flow into the vein, any way was wondering if anyone has experienced or heard of this after this many days. Thanks T Yes heard of it. had it happen to my ex-husband, he has had several surgeries. He might have an infection. The nurse might have nicked a tendon or muscle with her "jabbing". Get it checked out. Not after many days. I think I would be on the phone to the lab that did the IV and ablation. That nurse sounds awful! You both should have complained about her. He likely has an infection. It should be checked out immediately or it could lead to blood poisoning. |
